Fun facts about Prescott:

• Prescott was named after a distinguished historian in the 1800s who had never been to what we now call Arizona.
• Half the city burned down in the “Great Fire of 1900”, including many historic buildings and landmarks.
• Arizona has 13 species of rattlesnakes, which is the most of any state.
• The city began to preserve historical landmarks in 2000, which include Whiskey Row and 11 registered historical figures.
• Yavapai Courthouse Plaza was recognized in 2008 as one of the first “Great Public Places” in the US.
